From time to time being in the Marketing Department, I drive vehicles to promotions or to a film location. In total, I have driven many brand and models. Getting in a car I always have the feeling of bracing myself because I never know how a vehicle will drive. Will it accelerate well, will it turn in a sporty ways or be cumbersome, do I have to lower or raise the seat and questions like these swarm in my head. The reality is these thoughts are the same thoughts customers looking for a new car have. I want to shed light on vehicles strength when I possess a first person perspective. Recently, I had the chance to ride the brand new 2017 Kia Sorento and I have to admit that I was surprised by it. The first thing I noticed was the styling. It kept the 2016s body which is not a bad thing, each model cycle the Kia SUVs are getting more attractive (have you seen the 2017 Kia Sportage). When I headed to the fair Fayette County fair last year the Sorento at our exhibit was the most frequent compliment vehicle we brought. People loved its beautiful dark cherry color and the change of the grill. Inside, the 2017 Kia Sorento I love the simplistic approach. There is so much to this vehicle’s interior, but it seems to blend in so well, there are not a bunch of busy nobs or leavers on the dash. The dash has a lovely Uvo Console and the 2017 Sorento added Android Auto to complete the experience. Android Auto and Apple Car Play are apps that would seamlessly with your vehicle. You don’t need GPS anymore with them. Another thing I added to base 2017 Sorentos are back up cameras. Having a backup camera on a SUV is a must to ensure you are drive at your safest. Finally, I wanted to talk to you about the driving of the 2017 Sorento. If you haven’t driven one you have too. For being a big SUV this car drives like a car. The suspension and accelerations give it a great balance on the road. A third row Sorento could have been like a Mini Van but this SUV isn’t your mom’s van. Kia wanted to give you a complete ride experience and got there. It’s a great car to take on trips or driving around town. Long Live the Sorento!
This week in conjuncture with the International Auto Show in New York the Kia Sorento received its first Pre Owned Value Award (Pova) from True Car. TrueCar’s POVA recognizes model-year 2014 vehicles across 27 segments selling in 2016 that are expected to retain the highest percent of their value over the next three years. Sorento took the top spot in the midsize utility segment.
“Kia is honored that the Sorento is being recognized by TrueCar for its value in the pre-owned midsize-utility segment,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “With its extensive list of features backed by an industry-leading warranty, Sorento offers world-class design, technology and quality combined with the peace of mind that comes with making a smart purchasing decision.” “The Kia Sorento offers consumers a compelling value proposition, providing additional space with more features and functionality versus similarly priced competitors,” said Jim Nguyen, TrueCar EVP and general manager of ALG. “A smooth, quiet ride, available V6 engine and features like third-row seating, rear air conditioning, HID headlamps and blind spot detection set the Sorento apart from its competition. Additionally, improved quality and reliability as well as measured incentive levels all contribute to strong resale values.”
In the words of Beyonce, lemme upgrade ya with the new 2016 Kia Sorento! Kia has really outdone themselves with the new and improved 2016 SUV. Where do we start? The wheel-base is 3 inches longer, it’s slightly wider and a bit lower. Speaking of lower, it appears about one-half inch lower than Kia claims it to be. With the front end looking more aggresive, the tiger grille looking taller, the upgrades give it a sleeker look.
With Kia wanting to jump into the ranks of premium utility vehicles, the interior has also been reworked. All passengers are able to enjoy soft touch surfaces, instrument panel, center console and door panels and door grips. They are so soft you would think they are padded.
The 2016 Kia Sorento comes in 5 trim levels, the L, LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited. That means there is a model that suits everyone! No matter the size of your family, the Kia Sorento is still offered in the two row and third row seating, so no one in the family ever gets left behind! The only time that the third row seating is not an option is if you choose to go with the turbocharged engine.

1st generation Kia Sorento
Acting s a bigger brother to the Kia Sportage, the first generation Kia Sorento was born in 2002. While researching the crossover and SUV market, Kia decided to make the body larger while guaranteeing a high level of comfort and offering a rear-wheel drive drivetrain.
2nd generation Kia Sorento
For its second time around, the Kia Sorento was introduced at the Seoul Motor Show in 2009. The new and improved Sorento had a monocoque body and front-wheel drive system, making the body of the vehicle lighter and the interior more spacious compared to the first generation model. The second generations Sorento was the first model to be designed under the guidance of Peter Schreyer, Kia’s president and chief design officer. Improved performance and a sleek design made the second generation a huge success!

In an interview with Dave Schoonerover, Kia Motors America’s national manager of CRM and digital marketing stated, “The CUV segment is a large one, and it does span a wide demographic. What is consistent within that audience and what is clear is they want a vehicle that is reliable, safe, trustworthy and is a very capable all-wheel-drive vehicle. So our objective there is, because it’s such a wide demographic, is to focus more on the mindset of what they’re interested in [for] a vehicle that’s a common thread throughout that segment.”
You can catch Kias 15-second video clips across Yahoo digital magazines such as Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Food and Yahoo Health. Kia will relate with younger audiences, who are more apt to share content on social media, through sponsored posts on the Tumblr microblogging site.

It’s no surprise that Kia has been awarded yet again. Kia has been acknowledged by the reputable 2015 Red Dot design awards. The auto manufacturer has been honored with two Red Dots for the Soul EV and the all-new Sorento in recognition for their product design and exceptional details. The Red Dot awards will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and continues to be one of the most highly-respected international design competitions in the world.
The Kia Soul EV owes its “Winner” title to its upgraded design and technologies. This urban crossover vehicle has added signature two-tone colors to satisfy all styles and preferences. The Soul EV’s interior features are among the most innovative technologies used in today’s vehicles. These features range from an organic light emitting diode (OLED) to the world’s first heating, ventilation and air conditioning system for ‘driver-seat only’.
Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors Corporation stated “The third generation of the Kia Sorento has a subtly altered character and has made a great leap forward in quality. The new model combines a classic SUV spirit with a premium look that is particularly noticeable in the interior,”

The new and improved Kia Sorento has been completely redesigned while keeping style in mind. It’s longer, wider, and lower than the outgoing model, falling in the segment between compact and intermediate SUV.
The new Sorento shares the same silhouette and many of the same styling cues as the outgoing version. Although it now uses a taller grille and a slightly more aggressive profile. Fog lights are now standard on all models, with quad-LED’s available on the SX models.
Don’t judge a car by its cover. Although the new Sorento can easily be mistaken for the outgoing version, what’s under the hood is what matters. A new 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four joins the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four and 3.3-litre V6 engines, which return unchanged aside from changes to the engine mounts to reduce vibration. The new 240-horsepower turbocharged four is 50 hp shy of the V6, but it produces 8 lb.-ft. more torque at 260 lb.-ft., and it produces that torque at lower revs.
Soft-touch materials have been added, including various switches, so very little hard plastic remains. The LX models comes equipped with liquid-repellent cloth seats, while leather comes standard on EX and SX models. The dashboard has been streamlined with the centre stack now better incorporate into the design. The higher the trim level, the quieter the Sorento. The LX model has regular glass; LX+ models and up get an acoustic laminated windshield; SX models get sound reducing front side windows.
