Soundhound in the Kia Optima

Kia’s have gained loads of impressive high end technology in their cars.  Each new Kia vehicle comes with a Uvo technology console that contain many apps to make your driving experience an enjoyable one.  Today, I want to single one of the apps out because it was new to the 2016 Kia Optima called soundhound.  Soundhoud has been around for a bit but never into a car console until recently.  Today we will talk about some of the features that makes it a must have in your next car.

Kia Optima

Sound Search

SoundHound-Tout-1

One of the Coolest features of the SoundHound app is music search.  Say you put a friends USB into you Kia optima for some tunes but it does give the title of the song.  With Soundhound they use voice recognition software to find out what song and what bang.  So you don’t have to fight your friend about what this song is anymore!

Hand free

Being that the Sound Hound app is on your dash you can use it hands free.  This can save you time, but more importantly keeps you safe by letting you keep both hands on the wheel.

Sound Charts

Finding new music can be hard.  With soundhound they make it way easier.   They offer a free service called sound charts where it shows what others are listening too and are great recommendation for your next drive.  Not sure where to start?  We recommend the emerging artist chart.

These are just three features that makes soundhound a great edition inside your Kia Optima.  Check out this video below of a small video of the main screen of the Kia Optima.

4 Foolish things Car Buyers Can Do

Happy April Fools Day! Being a dealership we want our customers to pick the car that they truly want and have.  That’s why we are against trying to push a customer into a vehicle that might not be a good fit for them.  That why we have our sales consultant salaried.  Here are four tips we suggest at Jim Shorkey’s for buyers so they won’t be foolish on picking a car.

  1. Failing to consider the options

Decisions, Questions

When shopping for a car you have a wide variety of options.  Why settle for one automobile without looking and driving others.  There are so many possibilities such as different brands and styles.  For example you might walk in wanting the Kia Forte but realize that the space in the Kia Optima is better for your situation!  If you don’t drive both you might never see it.  Failing to consider the options might lead to regret which isn’t good for the consumer or the dealership you bought it from.

  1. Being overeager or impulse buying

Buying a car, Jim Shorkey, Kia, North Huntingdon, NH Kia

This is a tough one to talk about.  We have all been there.  We know its time and we want to buy a new vehicle.  Compared to our older cars many of the new ones have things we are not use to and excites us.  Things like back up cameras, climate control and automatic lock all make us want to buy now (ok maybe not the automatic locks).  The reality is make calm purchase decisions and look at the benefits.  Benefits like Warranty Forever can be easily overlooked but an amazing benefit for the consumer.

  1. Not doing your homework

More than ever the consumer can find out information about the car.  This is great for many reasons.  The first reason is that it gives you a good idea of what your car will be.  It also helps consumers make sure that dealerships are honest.  Another benefit is that reviews are accessible online to see what others see. Get a car that you love.

  1. Failing to evaluate your personal budget and finances

Try to figure out what a comfortable price is for you in your next car purchase.  Dan Garber, a Kia Sales Consultant once told me that putting someone in a car that they can’t afford only hurts your reputation and gives consumers regrets.  That’s why having realistic expectations will make you happy in your purchase decision in the long run. And that’s why you want to work with a company that you can trust.

Kia’s keeping quiet about the Optima Sportswagon and Kia Niro

Optima Sportswagon coming soon?

Kia sportswagon, Kia, North Huntingdon, Preview, Sneak

A little bit over a year ago Kia has hinted to redesigning the Optima to include a sportswagon design.  The front will keep the iconic tiger nose, but everything else will be changing.  The sports wagons design gives the backseat passengers more head space than the Optima sedan had. The lift gate in the back is placed higher and the roof is flatter.  We have no idea when, or even if we will get this car, but we can only cross our fingers.

Niro, The Kia’s new green machine?

Jim Shorkey preview, Jim Shorkey, Kia, Niro, Preview,

What is a Kia Niro?  People all around Germany are getting the answer.  Many Germans are getting the first look look at the newly tested Kia Niro.  This vehicle is reportedly coming out sometime in 2017.  Designed to be slotted between the Soul and Sportage, the compact crossover will have a sporty front bumper with a stronger nose grille, vertical side intakes, and chrome accents. Kia has been tight-lipped about specifications, but the model is slated to ride on a dedicated eco-car platform and feature “environmentally-conscious technologies” as well as “next-generation powertrains”. The Niro will be the green alternative in the Kia lineup.

We will most likely know more about both vehicles at the next Geneva auto show.  What do you think about these vehicles?  Would you want an Optima Sportswagon?  Do you think a true green car is what the Kia lineup needs?  Let us know!

2016 Kia Optima: More Bang for Your Buck

With its high class look, turbocharged engine, an array of standard features, and at a price that can’t be beat, the Kia Optima is changing perceptions in a big way.

The new 2016 Kia Optima is an evolutionary step forward in the design perspective. The low, arching roofline, high belt line and taught proportions carry over. But the details are better, richer. For starters, the signature “tiger-nose” front grille is slimmer, the bumpers are more sculpted and the headlights and taillights look sleeker and higher-tech.

The interior of the Optima gets its inspiration from the Kia K900, with soft-touch materials and a cleaner look with controls that have been paired down and regrouped. With more power, the Optima comes with more room. The car is larger in every dimension, which allows for more headroom, rear-seat legroom and trunk space.

The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which turns the current Optima into a speed machine, drops a notable 27 horsepower and 9 pounds-feet of torque. But, full torque comes on sooner than before, meaning that drivers might not feel too much of difference in acceleration off the line. Total output for the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is 247 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet.

If you haven’t caught on, Kia’s focus is offering more for less. So in keeping up with it, the 2016 Kia Optima adds features that are available on most luxury cars. An example would be the optional “bi-functional HID” headlamps that illuminate the road around turns and automatically switch between low and high beams depending on the traffic ahead – how’s that for technology?

The newly designed Optima foes on sale in the fourth quarter. But if you can’t wait that long, no worries, we have tons of 2015 Kia Optima’s to choose from here.
